Description: This poster will examine the factors that education systems can influence during the early grades, focusing specifically on what systems in the Pacific Region have available to both monitor and address those factors.

In addition to presenting research on predictive factors of grade 3 reading proficiency, the poster will present examples that illustrate approaches that states and school districts have taken to measure and address those malleable factors including the Early Grade Learning Assessment (EGLA) Project in the RMI, Palau and FSM, and the Pacific Islands Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Pilot Survey (PILNA).

Audience: The primary audience for this event will be participants at the 2019 H-PEA Conference in Hawai‘i.
